The artistry of the Otomi women is expressed in their vibrantly colored embroidery called tenangos.  The work, with its intricate and elaborate stitches, dates as far back as the Aztec Meso American era.  Believed to originate from prehistoric wall paintings,  these pieces with their floral and animal motifs symbolize man living in harmony with the natural world.
